Leslie Moran

Founder and Executive Director
Executive Director, Leslie Moran, founder of Emerald Ark, is a published author. Since 2002, Leslie has her own column in Parrots magazine, titled "The Holistic Parrot." Her passion is using food and nutrition to heal the animals in her care. This writing position gave her the opportunity to read large volumes of published scientific papers on cutting-edge nutrition and translate the data into easy-to-understand articles for her readers.

Leslie has two avian nutrition books on Amazon: “Polly Want a Sprout?” and “The Power of Nurturing with Food, the First Balanced Food Plan for Parrots Larger Than 50 Grams.” These books expose the unhealthy feeding paradigms that are currently popular but promote avian malnutrition. She has applied this wealth of nutritional knowledge in designing her cat food recipe, which is now in trials for preventing feline kidney disease.

John Catchpole - Publisher, retired

Board Member, Animal Care & Education Professional
Most recently, John was the publisher and editor of Parrots magazine. An international publication distributed in more than 60 countries. Thirty two years later and after producing 343 issues, he has retired. In the early days of Parrots magazine John enjoyed doing the magazine layout and graphic design work. As the magazine grew these tasks were passed to freelance workers.

In 2012, we launched a show for all parrot lovers called Think Parrots, which was eventually sold on to Northern Parrots after eight years, and is still the premier parrot event in the UK.

With an ongoing interest in parrots and Leslie’s unique approach to using food and nutrition for generating good health and well being in the dogs, cats and parrots at Emerald Ark John has chosen to further support this brilliant work.

Jasmine has been volunteering with Emerald Ark since the very beginning. With am impassioned interest in holistic healthcare and wellness Jasmine felt an immediate alignment with the therapeutic nutritional goals here at Emerald Ark.
