Leslie Moran
Founder and Executive Director
Executive Director, Leslie Moran, founder of Emerald Ark, is a published author. Since 2002, Leslie has her own column in Parrots magazine, titled "The Holistic Parrot." Her passion is using food and nutrition to heal the animals in her care. This writing position gave her the opportunity to read large volumes of published scientific papers on cutting-edge nutrition and translate the data into easy-to-understand articles for her readers.
Leslie has two avian nutrition books on Amazon: “Polly Want a Sprout?” and “The Power of Nurturing with Food, the First Balanced Food Plan for Parrots Larger Than 50 Grams.” These books expose the unhealthy feeding paradigms that are currently popular but promote avian malnutrition. She has applied this wealth of nutritional knowledge in designing her cat food recipe, which is now in trials for preventing feline kidney disease.
Nathan Pyle (with his Catalina Macaw, Lina)
Board Member, M.A., B.A.
Nathan holds a Master’s degree in Biology with a focus on Conservation Science from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego. He has a deep interest in avian caregiving and shares his home with a flock of three macaws. Nathan also brings valuable experience from his time working at the world-renowned San Diego Zoo.
Tracey Mumby, RVT, CVPM, SHRM-CP
Board Member, Animal Care & Education Professional
An Animal Care and Education Professional with over 20 years of experience, Tracey is a Registered Veterinary Technician with additional certifications in veterinary practice management and human resources. She is passionate about advancing animal health and well-being and is excited to be part of Emerald Ark. Tracey is especially drawn to our mission of treating the whole patient - through nutrition and alternative therapies - to ensure true, lasting wellness.
Among her other activities, Tracey cares for a White-fronted Amazon.
